The Process
More than 3000 years ago, the Babylonians had invented the fundaments of cold processed saponification. This low-temperature manufacturing process preserves the benefits and properties of the olive oil and beeswax contained in Ulili soaps. The prickly pear seeds grant the soap bars with a speckled texture which helps to smoothly exfoliate the skin.
The Benefits
Ulili revisited the traditional Beldi soap (in Moroccan Arabic : Beldi stands for traditional). Just like for traditional beldi soap, the main ingredient in Ulili's soaps is olive oil. It undergoes saponification in a cold process. Like after a scrubbing session in the "Hammam" steam room, the exfoliating and moisturizing benefits of the prickly pear as well as the freshness of the floral fragrances of Ulili soaps will leave a silky and scented layer on your skin.
The Emblem
Each "Beldi" soap from Ulili's range is stamped with an emblem. On each emblem, the name and main ingredients of the soap fragrance are written in arabic letters. The calligraphy is inspired by classic Maghrebian coins.
The packaging invokes a memory of the packagings of our childhood popular card game "Ronda". The emblems and packagings are illustrated by Ayoub, a young illustrator known for the posters of the Gnaoua Essaouira festival as well as "L'Boulvard" festival in Casablanca.
The soaps are available in 6 fragrances: Oum Rabie, Musk E'lil, and Tazarine, Louisa, M'Goun, and El Arz.
98% of the ingredients of the soap bars are of natural origin.
